Introduction

Course overview

Permit to work systems control high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, electrical isolation and work on process equipment. Failures in permit systems have contributed to many major accidents.

This Aractech course explains the purpose and elements of permit to work systems, permit types, roles and responsibilities, isolation and lockout, simultaneous operations, handover, auditing and electronic permit systems. Participants practise issuing, reviewing and auditing permits using realistic scenarios.

The course helps organisations make permit systems effective rather than bureaucratic.
