Introduction

Course overview

Many oil and gas fields worldwide are approaching the end of their productive lives, creating a growing decommissioning market. Decommissioning involves technical, environmental, regulatory and financial challenges and must be planned years in advance.

This Aractech course covers decommissioning regulations, planning and options assessment, well plugging and abandonment, topsides and substructure removal, pipelines and subsea infrastructure, waste management, cost estimation and stakeholder engagement. Participants develop an outline decommissioning programme.

Case studies from mature basins illustrate lessons learned and emerging practices.
